Kaylee Dubois)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Department of the Air Force selected<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moody.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-link-type=\"web\">Moody Air Force Base<\/a>, Georgia, as the preferred location to receive the next active-duty\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/478441\/f-35a-lightning-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F-35A Lightning II<\/a>\u00a0mission.<\/p>\n<p>The two squadrons of F-35As are projected to begin arriving in FY29 and the number of personnel is expected to remain the same.<\/p>\n<p>The F-35A brings an enhanced capability to survive in the advanced threat environment in which it was designed to operate. With its aerodynamic performance and advanced integrated avionics, the F-35A provides next-generation stealth, enhanced situational awareness, and reduced vulnerability.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to host the F-35 mission at Moody AFB came after assessing the area\u2019s ability to facilitate the mission and infrastructure capacity, while accounting for community support, environmental factors, and cost.<\/p>\n<p>The Fiscal Year 2024 Program Objective Memorandum\u00a0details\u00a0the department&#8217;s plans to retire 54\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/104490\/a-10c-thunderbolt-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A-10 Thunderbolt II<\/a>s.
