To promote the city\u2019s wide variety of offerings, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitvaldosta.org\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Visit Valdosta<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center &amp; Tourism Authority recently announced its \u201cValdostahhh\u201d campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cValdosta is a beautiful city full of hidden treasures,\u201d said David DiSalvo, executive director of Visit Valdosta. \u201cMany people know us for our championship sports teams or for the thrilling Wild Adventures Theme Park, but we have a great downtown area, incredible nature trails and parks, show-stopping golf courses, and so much more to share.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The campaign highlights all of Valdosta\u2019s \u2018ahhh\u2019 moments \u2013 from \u201cahhhmazing adventures\u201d to the relaxing \u2018ahhh\u2019 moments of sipping on a local IPA in the fresh air. Tourists, meeting planners and community members will see the campaign across broadcast, digital, outdoor and social media channels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This launch comes when tourism grows and brings additional financial benefits to the county. According to new 2021 data from Explore Georgia, tourism in Lowndes County resulted in:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">$389.4 million in total visitor spending, an increase from 2019\u2019s $350.3 million and 2020s $305.3 million<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">7.4 percent of jobs directly sustained by visitor spending in the county<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">$30 million in state and local taxes generated by visitors, which is equivalent to $701 in tax savings for every household<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTourism is incredibly beneficial to the city,\u201d said Valdosta Mayor Scott James Matheson. \u201cFrom supporting our small, local businesses to encouraging the development of new amenities for our residents and visitors to enjoy, tourism revenue supports great energy in our city.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The benefits of tourism can be seen statewide, where in 2021, Georgia gained $8.2 billion in direct income for tourism-supported job holders and visitors generated $2.3 billion in state and local taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With a local bump in tourism revenue, Valdosta is working to support new and improved attractions, including the recently opened Unity Park Amphitheater.
