Nestled in Lowndes County, just 11 miles from Valdosta, Hahira<\/a> is a honey of a small town. Founded in 1891, Hahira’s early growth was attributed to the railroad that provided the primary transportation of goods, including cotton and tobacco.<\/p>\n

Though the original train depot is gone, Hahira’s new depot and the adjacent park are the focal points for community events, including Saturday’s Farmers Market and the annual Honey Bee Festival<\/a>, which takes place the first weekend in October.<\/p>\n

Attracting more than 30,000 visitors to the Hahira area, the Honey Bee Festival includes arts and crafts, food, entertainment, and parade considered the largest in South Georgia.<\/p>\n

The downtown district includes locally-owned shops like A+B, Etc.<\/a>, Vertice Boutique<\/a>, Blu Lily Boutique,<\/a> Monkey Britches Boutique,<\/a> The Looking Glass<\/a>, Sew Blessed,<\/a> and The Tin Bucket<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Grab a bite to eat at Church Street Caf\u00e9<\/a>, where its classic American dishes and southern-inspired daily specials.<\/p>\n

A few miles from Hahira\u2019s downtown is the Cattle Company at Parker Farms<\/a>, which features locally sourced beef, pork, chicken, eggs, dairy, cheese, and Georgia Grown products.<\/p>\n
