Photo by Lindsi Jones<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSometimes we drive and see where we end up,\u201d said Jay, \u201cbut I prefer to plan out the trips. I use Google Maps to check street views to find the best locations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With interest in history, Jay first began taking photos of older buildings. \u201cI have always been interested in architecture and the history of the building,\u201d said Jay, who works for the Valdosta Boys &amp; Girls Club. \u201cI love the history of Valdosta and surrounding communities. You pass by these places every day and never think about how they started or what took place in these buildings years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It started as a hobby but has evolved into a business venture. Last year, the Blantons officially established The Georgia Photography Fanatic, a photography business focused on landscape, architecture, and agriculture. Each photo creates an awareness of South Georgia\u2019s uniqueness and natural beauty and serves an avenue to promote growth in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur main focus is to be a tool to promote tourism, agritourism, etc.,\u201d Erin said. \u201cOur customers are large landowners, including farms and plantations, tourism authorities and councils, municipalities, and chambers of commerce in South Georgia and North Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Sky\u2019s the Limit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Georgia Photography Fanatic client base has expanded through the addition of drone photography. Last year, Jay was certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA Part 107) to operate a drone for commercial use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe use of drones is highly regulated and we hold ourselves to the highest standards to maintain compliance,\u201d Jay said. \u201cAs a new industry, we feel drones will become more regulated especially at the local and state levels. I think through that, drone photography will become more specialized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Erin said the drone photos are extremely popular on The Georgia Photography Fanatic Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince August of 2016, we have grown the Facebook page to nearly 6,300 likes and followers,\u201d Erin said. \u201cMany of these have turned into customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the use of drones, the photography and video opportunities are endless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur passion is strong,\u201d said Jay, \u201cand we feel we can create images and videos to promote our surrounding area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; Photographers call it the \u201cgolden hour,\u201d a short window of opportunity to capture the perfect sunrise or sunset.
