Serving Up ‘Wingz & Thingz’ in Adel
How do you like your wings? Matt Griffin, owner of M&E Wingz & Thingz in Adel, serves them from mild and hot to sweet and spicy, along with a dozen flavors including teriyaki, honey barbecue, and garlic parmesan. While the wings are popular with the locals, the M&E Wingz & Thingz menu also includes the crowd-pleasing Philly Cheesesteak and a diverse selection of sides.
M&E Wingz & Thingz serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday, and dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Griffin’s sister and co-owner, Erica Griffin Deberry, serves a rotating menu of southern favorites like fried chicken, smothered pork chops, mac n’ cheese, cornbread dressing, fresh peas, cream corn, and much more.
An Adel native, Griffin, and his wife, Eveny, started with some small catering jobs before opening M&E Wingz & Thingz on November 30, 2018.

An active member of the Adel-Cook County Chamber of Commerce, Griffin also serves on the Downtown Adel Main Street Board. “Matt and Erica and their staff have continued to provide food via pick-up service during the COVID-19 economic hardship,” says Brandie Dame, director of Adel Downtown Development Authority. “Their business is vital to Downtown Adel as customers seek tasty dining experiences despite social distancing.”
